The City of Bannu is located in South of Peshawar. The city is under curfew and the people are restricted to their residential places, shops are closed. The Army is preparing to launch a military operation against the militants in the area. Please pray for the local residents and especially for the Christian community.
On May 11, 2009 some miscreants broke into the Diocesan Church in Bannu Cantonment. They severely damaged the Church building. Before leaving they burned the Bibles, Altar, windows etc. The local Christian community is very scared. Please remember the local Christian community and their Pastor in your prayers.
Diocese of Peshawar has set up a relief camp at Christian Vocational Training Center, Mardan to embrace the displaced families of Swat, Dir and Bunner.
The Diocese also request all its friends and Partners to share the sufferings of these displaced families with their in kind support through the Diocese.
With the commencement of the Plantation Season, all the Diocesan Educational Institutions along with their students are actively participating in the plantation. This is not only to raise awareness among the students to care for their planet but is also to enhance the beauty of our Province.
The Annual Pre Lent Retreat of the Diocese of Peshawar ends on February 25, 2009. All the Diocesan Clergy participated in the three day long retreat at Mission Hospital, Bannu. The retreat was led by The Rt. Rev. Mano Rumalshah.
Mr. Per Iver Johansen, Regional Representative of the Norwegiam Mission Society paid a short visit of the Diocese of Peshawar. During his four day visit starting from February 19, he visited various Diocesan Health, Education and Community Development projects. Before his departure he appreciated the Diocesan efforts for the community uplift.
A three day workshop on Project Planning was organized at the Diocesean Center. The workshop started on February 3, 2009 and was attended by the Senior management of the Diocese, Head of Institutions and the Diocesan Deans.
Despite severe chilling weather conditions, the Diocesan Medical staff continues to provide medical care, through the Diocesan Medical Care Centre at Shahwal, to the people of Balakot and the adjacent villages.
On December 16, the Youth Desk held a Carol Singing and Quiz Competition at the Diocesan Centre, Peshawar. A huge number of participants arrived from all the parishes of the Peshawar Diocese.
On December 14, the Junior Church of All Saints Church held a Christmas drama.
Volunteers required for the Diocesan Institutions, Programs & Projects: All Christian male, females are welcome to participate in the development and promotion of the Diocesan Sectors, these are: Mission & Ministry, Education, Health, Property, Finance, Development & Relief.
